Vigneti La Selvanella

In the heart of the Chianti Classico region, a place with no equal for its history and art, in the hills shaped by the Tuscan vine growers over the centuries, you find the Vigneti La Selvanella.

This unique cru lies on a hill at 600 metres in the north of the UGA Radda district on the hilly right of the stream named Torrente Pesa.

Light, wind and altitude are what are special about La Selvanella vineyards, a naturally suited terroir.

A part of Chianti Classico history

When the Selvanella Estate was acquired at the beginning of the 1960s, it was immediately clear that the terroir was highly suitable for Sangiovese. Following a massal selection, 50 hectares were planted in one single area making it the most extensive vineyard in Radda in Chianti and the largest Chianti Classico Cru.

Vigneti La Selvanella is a unique terroir which produced its first Riserva with the 1969 vintage, it was one of the very first Italian wines to undergo selection and vinification for a Cru of Origin label.

In 1975, in a blind tasting in Castellina in Chianti, La Selvanella 1971 was chosen as the Representative Wine of the League of Chianti and was among the first wines to be awarded the “Tre Bicchieri” by the prestigious Gambero Rosso guide.
