Fleurie Domaine de la Madrière 2016

Stéphane Aviron

Terroir: Fleurie is one of the top crus in Beaujolais producing wines of deep fruit and great structure. Stéphane Aviron’s Fleurie is sourced from a family owned hillside vineyard on the western side of the appellation. Exposure on these steep slopes face south and southeast with soils of loose clay and limestone.

Vinification: Grapes are handpicked and sorted upon arrival at the winery. The must is macerated in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats for 12-15 days and then aged for 12-14 months in a combination of new and one-or-two-year old barriques.

"Notes of sweet strawberries, plums and red fruit compote introduce the 2016 Fleurie Vieilles Vignes Domaine de la Madrière, a medium to full-bodied, juicy wine that's nicely concentrated but quite firm and structured, especially on the finish. It's a little unyielding right now, but I wouldn't bet against it."
