Puligny Montrachet AC 2018

Olivier Leflaive

The Leflaive family has resided in the village of Puligny Montrachet for centuries and it is now home to Maison Olivier Leflaive. With it’s variety of 1er Crus and a shared portion of Grand Crus Le Montrachet, Bienvenue-Bâtard Montrachet and Bâtard Montrachet, the terroir of Puligny is second to none. Each year Leflaive produces close to a dozen unique cuvées from these world class Chardonnay vineyards.

Terroir: Olivier Leflaive’s village level Puligny Montrachet is sourced from 21 separate plots throughout the appellation. The unique characteristics of each plot combine in the bottle to provide a wine of great richness, complexity and age ability.

Vinification: The lots are hand harvested and sorted at the winery and then undergoes primary and secondary fermentation in barrel and is aged for a total of 12 months in on its lees in 20% new oak. Following a gentle fining the wine is bottled and rests in the cellar for a short period prior to release.

"Wafting from the glass with notes of crisp orchard, white flowers, freshly baked bread and subtle hints of toasted nuts, the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Village is medium-bodied, ample and crisply fleshy, with lively acids, an open-knit core of fruit and a nicely defined finish."
