Puligny Montrachet AC 2017

Olivier Leflaive

The Leflaive family has resided in the village of Puligny Montrachet for centuries and it is now home to Maison Olivier Leflaive. With it’s variety of 1er Crus and a shared portion of Grand Crus Le Montrachet, Bienvenue-Bâtard Montrachet and Bâtard Montrachet, the terroir of Puligny is second to none. Each year Leflaive produces close to a dozen unique cuvées from these world class Chardonnay vineyards.

Terroir: Olivier Leflaive’s village level Puligny Montrachet is sourced from 21 separate plots throughout the appellation. The unique characteristics of each plot combine in the bottle to provide a wine of great richness, complexity and age ability.

Vinification: The lots are hand harvested and sorted at the winery and then undergoes primary and secondary fermentation in barrel and is aged for a total of 12 months in on its lees in 20% new oak. Following a gentle fining the wine is bottled and rests in the cellar for a short period prior to release.

Additional Information

This famous wine from our domain expresses noble and distinguished aromas with notes of citrus, beautiful minerality and toasted scents. The mouth is elegant and tonic with a very long persistence.

"The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Village opens in the glass with a youthfully reticent bouquet of white peach, Meyer lemon and spring flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural palate with ripe but racy acids, a pretty core of fruit and good grip on the finish. There appears to be a touch more cut and structure here than is found in the house's village level efforts from Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault."

"Fermented and aged in wood, this is a rich wine. Its spice, ripe pineapple and mango flavors and dense texture show intense freshness as well as layers of toast, a complex texture and a short aging potential. Drink from 2021."
