Pernand-Vergelesses 2017

Olivier Leflaive

Terroir: Located at the end of the North part of la Butte de Corton, the Pernand-Vergelesses A.O.C produces white wines on clayey limestone soils with crushed stones and the rock. We pick the grapes later than elsewhere. Cuvee vinified from terroirs of Frétille, Sous les Clous, Morand and Les Pins.

Vinification: Harvesting is done 100% by hand. Once grapes arrive in the cellar, they are immediately and carefully sorted and pressed with a pneumatic press. The wine spends 12 months aging, 3 of which are spent in stainless steel. Once finished, the wine is transferred to 100% oak barrels (18% new oak).

Additional Information

Aromas of hawthorn and acacia which evolve with age to honey and spices. A harmonious and pleasant body on the palate.

"The 2017 Pernand-Vergelesses wafts from the glass with a pretty bouquet of fresh peach, white flowers and orange rind, deftly framed by a touch of new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, bright and lively, with an elegantly satiny attack, excellent cut and tension and a long, penetrating finish. This is a fine Pernand that's very nicely balanced and well worth seeking out. It's produced from lieu-dits Frétille, Sous les Clous, Morand and Les Pins."
