Pernand-Vergelesses 2016

Olivier Leflaive

Terroir: Located at the end of the North part of la Butte de Corton, the Pernand-Vergelesses A.O.C produces white wines on clayey limestone soils with crushed stones and the rock. We pick the grapes later than elsewhere. Cuvee vinified from terroirs of Frétille, Sous les Clous, Morand and Les Pins.

Vinification: Harvesting is done 100% by hand. Once grapes arrive in the cellar, they are immediately and carefully sorted and pressed with a pneumatic press. The wine spends 12 months aging, 3 of which are spent in stainless steel. Once finished, the wine is transferred to 100% oak barrels (18% new oak).

Additional Information

Aromas of hawthorn and acacia which evolve with age to honey and spices. A harmonious and pleasant body on the palate.

"A creamy version, infused with peach, melon and pastry flavors. Shows good cut underneath, allowing this to sail to a lingering conclusion. Fine texture."

"Strong reduction and sulfur undertones make for a very pungent nose. Otherwise there is very good intensity to the detailed, even chiseled, medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the bone dry and youthfully austere finish. A good quality Pernand villages."
