Olivier Leflaive - Meursault 2017

Overview

The village of Meursault is an important appellation for Maison Olivier Leflaive as it is the home of chief winemaker Franck Grux. The Maison typically produces up to 10 cuvées including Premiere Crus; Perrières, Charmes, Genevrières, Poruzots and Narvaux.

Terroir: Olivier Leflaive's Meursault AC is sourced from many parcels within the appellation. Soils are rich in limestone, white marl and clay.

Vinification Parcels are vinified separately until the final blend is made after about 12 months in the cellar. The wines are aged in Allier oak with about 20% of it new. After blending the wine is fined and bottled. The Meursault AC is released after 12 months in bottle.

"The 2017 Meursault Village is pretty and expressive, bursting from the glass with notes of Anjou pear, hazelnuts, fresh peach and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, supple and elegantly fleshy, with a delicately textural attack and a lively but open-knit profile. This charming wine represents a very creditable effort for Olivier Leflaive."

"Aged in wood, this blend of parcels from across Meursault shows the richness for which the appellation is famed. It contrasts that with acidity, freshness and crisp citrus. The combination has produced a wine that can age further. Drink from 2021."
