The 9 acre Grand Cru of Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet sits entirely within the confines of Puligny and is bordered by Bâtard-Montrachet and Puligny 1er Cru Les Pucelles.
Terroir: Bienvenue-Bâtard sits on a lightly pitched portion of the hillside as you transition from 1er Crus of Puligny to the Grand Crus. Soil composition is made up primarily of clay and limestone that tend to hold a bit more water than sites further up the hill leading to wines that are fleshier and more typically more accessible when young.
Vinification: Grapes are sorted and aged in barrel for a minimum of 12 months. 30% of the barrels are new, the remainder are 1-3 years old. Battonage (stirring of the lees) occurs often during the winter months to encourage the unique characteristics of this vineyard. Following aging the wine is lightly fined, blended and placed in stainless steel where it will rest for another 3 months before bottling.
