Summary: Orzada is the Spanish word for “sailing into the wind”. This series of quintessentially Odfjell wines showcases our passion for innovation with wines crafted with fruit selected from specific old vines in our organic and biodynamic vineyards.
Grapes are sourced from Maipo Valley and Padre Hurtado vineyards. Vines range in age from 20-24 years old.
Vinification: The grapes were hand picked and not crushed on reception at the winery, only destemmed. The whole berries had 4 days of cold maceration prior to fermentation and 10-12 maceration at 25% after fermentation. Selected and native yeasts were used during fermentation which took place in tanks of 40000ltrs. Spontaneous malolactic took place in tank. Aging takes place in 50% in new French oak and 30% used barrels.
The complex nose offers aromas of blueberries, cherries, strawberries, plums, and tobacco. The refreshing palate has pleasing acidity and round tannins with notes of dried plums and chocolate on the finish.
