Vigna Il Pino Bianco di Torgiano DOC 2018


Terroir: “Il Pino” is a 7-acre hillside vineyard sitting at about 885 ft. with western exposure. Located on the Brufa hillside with clayey soil, medium depth and limestone subsoil.

Vinification: After cryomaceration, 30% of the blend is fermented and aged on the lees in barrique for 3 months; the remaining 70% is fermented in stainless steel; the blend is then barrel aged until the following spring. Released about 1 year after harvest.

Additional Information

A bouquet with good complexity with fruitiness (fruit salad, yellow peach and citrus fruit); light, refined note of woodiness on the finish. On the palate the wine is elegant in flavor, with a delicate, citrus-like acidity; with a fruity and slightly mineral, persistent finish.

    "Lots of lime on the nose with hints of clean, dry stones. Some delicate summer-meadow floral notes, too. Full-bodied with a silky, dense and quietly intense palate, displaying the same, almost riesling-like character. Long, savory finish. Really well done this year. Displays refinement and solidity at the same time. Enjoy now."

    "I'm not sure this is the 2018 because the vintage was not written on the bottle, but it was written on the cork, so I'm going with that. A blend of Vermentino, Grechetto and Trebbiano fermented and aged in oak, the Lungarotti 2018 Torgiano Torre di Giano Vigna Il Pino brings nice freshness with lots of citrus and some lemon candy too. You'll pick up on some Golden Delicious apple, honey and pear. This is a mid-weight white with a creamy texture. There is also faint toast, spice and ash. Some 10,500 bottles were made."
