- Malbec Terroir Los Miradores 2015
The character and personality of a wine represent the terroir and the hand of men, that have had an influence on that creation. A Malbec that expresses all the characteristics of the terroir of Los Miradores. This red wine is a deep violet color, with a predominance of fruity aromas reminiscent of blackberries and other berries; it also has an elegant characteristic and some spicy trait, very typical from the wines elaborated with grapes from Valle de Uco. It is intense on the palate, with great volume and fruity strength. Its sweet and silky tannins are combined with its frugal and round character that fills the mouth. A very good structure without astringency and balanced acidity that gives freshness and fluidity on the palate. Long, deep and elegant finish.
Terroir: Sourced exclusively from the estate's Finca Los Miradores, located at an elevation of 1,150 meters in Villa Seca in the Valle de Uco subregion of Mendoza. Continental climate, with a wide range of temperature between day and night, and distinct seasons which contribute to good plant growth.
10 years ago; three separate selections of Malbec from other vineyards within the Bosca estate were planted in the Finca Los Miradores in order to select the best strain to produce this wine. The grapes that obtained the best expression were selected, and after a decade the vines have been settled in their terroir and have achieved a perfect balance to provide grapes of excellent quality. Grapes grown in Finca Los Miradores are biodynamically grown, yields are very low with approximately 1.25 vines producing a single finished bottle.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested manually in boxes from 18 to 20 kilograms, clusters are selected, then they are destemmed and after that the best grains are chosen. The must is macerated in cold for 5 to 7 days at a temperature from 10°C to 15°C. Then it is fermented with selected yeast in stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 6,000 liters, with extraction works such as delestage and pressings. Once fermentation is finished, 30% of the wine is aged in new French oak barrels in which malolactic conversion takes place and it is matured for 12 months. Once the ageing is finished, it is blended with the part that has been kept in stainless steel tanks, then it is stabilized, filtered and the final blend is bottled. It is stored in the winery for at least six months before release to the market.
Additional Details editTerroir Los Miradores is a wine that reflects the spirit of a new vineyard. "Lush blackberry and cassis aromas offer a deep dive into the land of ripe fruit, all touched up by notes of coffee and mocha. This Uco Valley Malbec is flush, with volume and precision to the palate. Earthy berry, mocha and chocolate cake flavors finish full and ripe. Drink through 2028."

"(partly aged in new French oak): Medium red-ruby. Slightly wild, inky aromas of crushed dark berries, dark chocolate, licorice and herbs. At once dense and light on its feet, with nicely delineated blueberry, blackberry, cassis and herb flavors complicated by a chocolate note and framed by harmonious acidity. Not at all a fleshy wine; in fact, distinctly Old World in its uncompromising savory dryness. The tannins dust the front teeth on the end and turn a bit dry with air, but this firmly built, rather penetrating Malbec has the spine to go on for several more years. This Uco Valley bottling offers an interesting contrast to most of Luigi Bosca's other wines from their home base in Luján de Cuyo."
