Folonari Toscana is ruby red in color, intensely vinous, and fragrant with gentle hints of berries and violets; the taste is dry, full-bodied and straightforward. Balanced with a nice background of blackberry and almond, the wine’s flavors have good persistence.
In the vineyards, the grapes for Folonari Toscana come from areas traditionally known and suited to the climate, exposure and positions of the land. The vines are trained to Guyot on soils characterized by the predominant presence of limestone, marl and calcareous marl.
In the winemaking of Folonari Toscana, its grapes are ripened to physiological maturity and are harvested between the months of September and October. The vinification with maceration takes place at a controlled temperature (28-30°), with frequent pumping over on the skins for 10-15 days, depending on the vintage. Then the wine is aged in stainless steel vats. The alcohol is 12.75%.
