Hugel’s “Jubilee” are sourced exclusively from family owned Grand Cru vineyards in the top terroirs in Alsace.
Terroir: Sourced from the family owned parcel of the Grand Cru Sporen vineyard on the slopes just outside of Riquewihr. Soils here are primarily clay and chalk.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and brought to the winery in Riquewihr for additional sorting prior to vinification. After a strict sorting the grapes are pressed and fermented at cool temperatures in either stainless steel or large neutral oak casks. The young wines are then fed by gravity to the cellars for aging. Following aging the wines are lightly filtered, bottled and then stored until release to the market.
“Visibly intense and concentrated, the color is pale gold, and the wine is unctuous and star bright in appearance.
Its bouquet is characteristically perfumed and spicy, with multiple aromatic facets : saffron, cardamom, bourbon vanilla, liquorice, orange blossom, rose petal, lychee, passion fruit and fresh pineapple. Sheer rapture for all lovers of aromatic wines. Nonetheless this wine is essentially dry, with a superb structure, full, rich, ripe and vinous, coupled with a tannic backbone that gives it mouth-filling length and a long finish.
This Gewurztraminer has very nice depth and personality.” -Etienne Hugel
