Famille Hugel - Gewurztraminer Jubilee 2005
Overview
Hugel's "Jubilee" are sourced exclusively from family owned Grand Cru vineyards in the top terroirs in Alsace.
Terroir: Sourced from the family owned parcel of the Grand Cru Sporen vineyard on the slopes just outside of Riquewihr. Soils here are primarily clay and chalk.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and brought to the winery in Riquewihr for additional sorting prior to vinification. After a strict sorting the grapes are pressed and fermented at cool temperatures in either stainless steel or large neutral oak casks. The young wines are then fed by gravity to the cellars for aging. Following aging the wines are lightly filtered, bottled and then stored until release to the market.
Additional Details
Intense, deep colour, nicely youthful, bright and limpid. Frank, open bouquet, an explosion of fruit and floral aromas, oriental spices, with an attractive, compelling charm. The whole mouth is bathed in an agreeably opulent, silky, velvety sensation that caresses the palate and seems to linger forever on the finish. The quality and character of this particular Gewurztraminer result from the ideal harmony between its body and structure. A successful, textbook example of an aromatic, perfumed, rich, full wine that can still be considered dry. Enjoy this wine now for its charm and its perfume, although it will also age very well. Serve it at 8°C with foie gras, as well as with richly flavoured, spicy food : Chinese, Thai, Indonesian.Recent News

“A delicate white, showing orange blossom and rose petal notes, with lychee, star fruit and spice flavors. Just off-dry, with a hint of bitter citrus peel on the finish. Drink now through 2015.”
