Terroir: With concerns about protecting the environment, Domaine Tariquet has been sustainably managing the vineyards for over 20 years. The estate is certified ISO 14001 and HVE (High Environment Value).
Ageing & Blending: At Domaine Tariquet, our Bas-Armagnacs are made exclusively from the grapes harvested from the family estate’s vineyards. The distillation takes place in authentic wood fired armagnac alambic using the traditional continuous distillation process. Our hundred-year-old cellar quietly safeguard our barrels or “pieces”, as they are called.
Each variety and each vintage are distilled and aged separately for the first years. Then, the blending of our “pieces”, a true savoir-faire at the heart of the identity and style of our Bas-Armagnacs, will finish with a long period of ageing and a meticulous selection.
We prefer to use barrels with a light toasting made from the French timber forests surrounding the property (Allier, Nièvre) renowned for their fine grain. The color of our Bas-Armagnacs comes uniquely from the ageing in barrels. The naturally light tint is due to the alchemy between the delicately toasted oak and the eaux-de-vie, thus truly respecting their natural color.
The color is already tinged with amber. The nose combines aromas of fresh plums, jam and honey, with hints of kumquat emerging with aeration. On the palate this vintage is crisp and dynamic, at once delicate and intense, with a great length of flavor combining notes of fresh and caramelized fruit, white pepper and vanilla.
Serving Suggestions: The 1995 is a vintage of astonishing freshness with generous helpings of fruit. Served at room temperature, the aromatic purity and intensity are exquisite. Take time to savor the magnificently fruity bouquet.
