Domaine Pascal Jolivet - Sancerre Le Grand Chemarin 2016
Overview
Terroir: Situated 125 miles south of Paris, the Sancerre landscape undulates at an altitude between 650 and 1,300 feet. The Loire River on the Eastern side of the hilly environment creates a relatively temperate microclimate for the wines. Le Grand Chemarin is a south facing hillside vineyard situated over the village of Bué. Jolivet owns 3 of the 74 acres representing Le Grand Chemarin. This wine is sourced from a small 1.2 acre parcel of the oldest vines within the domaine's holding. Limestone dominates the soils here.
Vinification: Grapes are hand-picked and fermented with wild yeasts in large temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.
