Sancerre Le Chêne Marchand 2017

Domaine Pascal Jolivet

Terroir: Situated 125 miles south of Paris, the Sancerre landscape undulates at an altitude between 650 and 1,300 feet. The Loire River on the Eastern side of the hilly environment creates a relatively temperate microclimate for the wines. Pascal Jolivet’s Sancerre Le Chene Marchand comes from a 2.52 acre parcel planted on one of the most beautiful sites in the appellation of Sancerre, with due south exposure in the village of Bué.

Vinification: The grapes are picked and hand selected, then the juice fermented with wild yeasts in stainless steel tanks.

Additional Information

A wine with a ton of complexity and power behind it, but also incredibly smooth. Minerality, freshness and salinity are well extracted from the terroir of limestone. It develops even further elegant with time.

"The 2017 Sancerre Le Chêne Marchand opens with a very attractive and deep mango and passion fruit bouquet that is intermixed with textural, spicy-mineral notes that give distinctiveness and satisfaction. On the palate, this cru is lush and intense yet also tight and finely woven by delicate acidity and refreshing phenolic grip. The wine is full-bodied and intense, not massive but dense and very long. An impressive wine that is a great pleasure to drink now and over this decade. Tasted in January 2021."
