Domaine Pascal Jolivet - Sancerre Exception 2008
Overview
Terroir: Situated 125 miles south of Paris, the Sancerre landscape undulates at an altitude between 650 and 1,300 feet. The Loire River on the Eastern side of the hilly environment creates a relatively temperate microclimate for the wines. Pascal Jolivet Sancerre Exception is the Loire’s equivalent of a Grand Cru. The wine is sourced from three vineyards that share the terroir characteristics to produce Sauvignon Blanc of exceptional quality. Sources are Chêne Marchand in the village of Bué, Mont Damné in Chavignol and Clos Roy in Crézancy.
Vinification: Pascal Jolivet practices a minimalist winemaking style, allowing nature to take its course. Each of his white wines is produced using exclusively native yeasts, and entirely in temperature stainless steel. All parcels are vinified separately until final blending and bottling.
Additional Details
"The very intense nose develops into subtle mineral aromas lifted by pear and citrus fruits. We note a splendid intensity in the mouth. The mineral notes are very present on the palate. This top-of-the-range Sancerre originates from the most beautiful soils from where it bears its name. This is one wine that be at its highest expression in 3 to 5 years." -Pascal JolivetRecent News

"Plump and juicy, with a tasty core of lime, pear skin and gooseberry notes that work well together, backed by a well-integrated flint edge on the finish"
