Le Clos du Moulin-à-Vent 2018

Domaine Labruyère

Terroir: Domaine Labruyère owns approximately 35 acres of prime vineyards in Moulin-à-Vent. Le Clos du Moulin-à-Vent is sourced exclusively from the Le Clos du Moulin vineyard where vines are very densely planted in soils of granite and quartz. Vines here average 50 years old.

Vinification: Grapes are hand picked parcel by parcel as they reach phenolic ripeness and transported to the winery in small 25kg crates to avoid damage. Upon arrival the grapes are sorted twice prior to de-stemming. Vinification begins with a 20-day maceration at cool temperatures in stainless steel and concrete vats prior to aging in the cellars in oak cask.

"A reductive nose at first with aromas of red fruit, flowers and ash. It’s medium-bodied with tight, sleek tannins. Juicy and fruity with pretty floral character. Drink now."

"This wine comes from a single vineyard just downhill from the famed windmill of Moulin-à-Vent. It is a rich wine, aged in large barrels for a year that give it a perfumed character. Black fruits and warm tannins complete this wine that deserves aging. Drink from 2022. "

"A touch reductive and more marked by its élevage than the other wines in the range, the 2018 Moulin-à-Vent Le Clos du Moulin-à-Vent unwinds in the glass with aromas of smoked meats, plums and forest floor, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety but incisive palate that's succulent and seamless. While it needs time to come together, if offers plenty of grounds for optimism."
