Meursault AC Clos de Mazeray Rouge (Monopole) 2015

Domaine Jacques Prieur

Terroir: This 0.6 acre walled vineyard in the heart of Meursault is a monopole for Domaine Jacques Prieur. The vineyard sits in a rather flat position with rich clay soils covering what was once a riverbed.

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested, strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 20 days prior to racking. The wine ages for 12 months of in oak barrels deep in the cellars of Domaine Jacques Prieur.

Additional Information

2015 Exceptional sunshine!
The year 2015 profited from completely exceptional climatic conditions with surplus sunning, very weak pluviometry and very high temperatures in June and July. The strong luminosity and heat marked this year with accelerated vegetative cycle and certain stages such as flowering at the beginning of June and ripening at the beginning of August were fulgurating.
Harvests at Domaine Jacques Prieur started on 3rd September for Chardonnays and on 7th September for the Pinot Noirs.
2015 can be illustrated as an extremely early vintage and it stands next to 2003, 2007 and 2011.

Luminous ruby red. Generous showing floral, spicy and fruity notes at the same time (rose, clove and fresh cherry). Invigorating and dynamic with fruity-acidulous notes. Very digestible on the finish with structured, fresh and spicy tannins.

Healthy dark red. Still a trace of malic acidity blocking the nose but clearly very ripe. Broad, sweet and silky on the palate, with a raspberry flavor accented by a touch of herbs (the stems contribute elegance, notes Gublin). Offers lovely fruit and suave tannins, with nothing hard about it. Made from deep alluvial soil in the bottom of the clos.
