Meursault 1er Cru Santenots 2018

Domaine Jacques Prieur

Terroir: Meursault 1er Cru Santenots sits on the northern boundary of the Meursault appellation. Domaine Jacques Prieur owns approximately 1/2 an acre of this vineyard. This is an extremely unique vineyard as producers are able to produce both white Meursault 1er Cru or red Volnay 1er Cru from the same parcel. The vines face almost due east and the soil is heavy in nature, primarily clay and silt.

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested, strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 12 hours prior to fermentation. The wine ages for 17 months of in oak barrels deep in the cellars of Domaine Jacques Prieur.

Additional Information

White gold with luminous silver reflections. Fine and delicate with a touch of yellow fruit (mirabelle plum) and nuts (almond, hazelnut). Tender and smooth with white fruit notes (apple, pear). Warm on the finish with embracing and crispy salinity.

"The 2018 Meursault Santenots 1er Cru has a light cut grass and green apple bouquet that opens nicely with aeration, though it never quite slips into fifth gear. The palate is better, with a citrus lemon and orange zest entry and good tension, but it needs to deliver a little more weight and finesse on the finish. Still a pleasurable Meursault, however."
