Domaine Jacques Prieur - Meursault 1er Cru Santenots 2016
Overview
Terroir: Meursault 1er Cru Santenots sits on the northern boundary of the Meursault appellation. Domaine Jacques Prieur owns approximately 1/2 an acre of this vineyard. This is an extremely unique vineyard as producers are able to produce both white Meursault 1er Cru or red Volnay 1er Cru from the same parcel. The vines face almost due east and the soil is heavy in nature, primarily clay and silt.
Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested, strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 12 hours prior to fermentation. The wine ages for 17 months of in oak barrels deep in the cellars of Domaine Jacques Prieur.
Additional Details
White gold with luminous silver reflections. Fine and delicate with a touch of yellow fruit (mirabelle plum) and nuts (almond, hazelnut). Tender and smooth with white fruit notes (apple, pear). Warm on the finish with embracing and crispy salinity.Technical Details

"(from 10+ year old vines planted in Les Plures). Pungent aromas are formed of firm reduction and wood toast. More interesting are the rich, concentrated and full-bodied flavors that are remarkably saline in character on the tension-filled and unusually chiseled if mildly warm finish. While the nose does have to clean up, this is really quite promising."
