Additional Information

Intense green gold with scintillating silver reflections. Rich, complex and expressive with yellow fruit notes (mirabelle plum, fresh apricot), evolving into notes of hot bread crust, praline and warm stone. The palate is dense and powerful with infinite length. Flavorful with a strong sapidity, that makes the wine very digestible.

"A more elegant and restrained nose somewhat grudgingly offers up an array of citrus, acacia blossom and mineral reduction, all of which is trimmed in mildly toasty oak. There is fine punch to the surprisingly powerful, focused and tautly muscular flavors that possess the hallmark driving minerality of a classic Perrières on the impressively long if again ever-so-slightly warm finale. "The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières was produced in exactly the same quantity as in 2015. Matured in 25% new oak, it has a perfumed bouquet with white peach and hazelnut aromas, perhaps needing a little more tension and terroir expression to come through. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine, quite steely opening. It feels harmonious and precise, although I would seek more mineralité to be on display on the finish."

"(12.8% natural alcohol; 20% lost to frost): Pale medium-yellow. Expressive nose combines lemon zest, lime, flowers, banana, passion fruit and mango. Then surprisingly strong and brisk on entry, displaying serious mid-palate thickness cut by firm mineral-driven acidity. This rather suave, sexy 2016 finishes with an impression of dusty minerality and lovely lift."
