Terroir: The 5 acre Domaine Jacques Prieur parcel of 1er Cru Champ-Pimont sits on the slope overlooking the town of Beaune just west of the village. The vineyard faces due east and produces both red and white wines of superior quality. The soils range from clay based in the lower slopes to mineral rich (iron) gravel soils further up the the slope.
Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 24 hours prior to fermentation. The red and white Champ-Pimont both undergo 100% malolactic fermentation and 17 months of aging in oak barrels.
Dark and intense ruby red. Fine and precise with notes of dark berries (bilberry, blackberry), evolving with aeration into spicy and slightly leather/tobacco notes. Crunchy featuring dark berries and very slightly toasted notes on the mouth. Thick on the finish with dense, ripe and salivating tannins.
