- Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne 2017
Overview
Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.
Terroir: 1er Cru La Garenne is a 24 acre vineyard high on the slopes of Puligny Montrachet directly above 1er Cru Champ-Gain. Domaine Faiveley farms a small 1/2 acre plot that is located on light, shallow and stony soils.
Vinification: Following a strict sorting the grapes are fermented at low temperatures for a period of 18-20 days followed by aging in the cellars for 14-16 months in a combination of new (2/3's) and used oak barrels.

"Pale bright yellow. Captivating nose combines lemon drop, underripe pineapple, dusty stone, white pepper, flowers and mint. Tightly wound and extremely backward, more salty than sweet. Quite minerally and precise owing to its cool, high site. This crisp, intense wine finishes very long and alive, with pungent crushed stone. Almost 2014-like in its coolness, density and savory minerality."
