Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gains 2019

Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

Terroir: The 25 acre 1er Cru Champ Gains sits on the upper slopes of the hillside just below La Garenne and north of the Grand Crus. The vineyard has an ideal slope to the southeast with light, well drained soils of clay and limestone.

Vinification: The wine is aged in oak barrels for 13-15 months, with an average of 1/3 new oak.

"The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gain is showing very nicely, offering up aromas of citrus oil, pear and fresh apricot, complemented by hints of pastry cream and warm bread. Medium to full-bodied, bright and fleshy, with lively acids and an ample core of fruit, it concludes with a precise, mineral finish."

"The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Champ-Gain 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet of freshly sliced pear, Granny Smith apples and light limestone aromas. The palate is well balanced with tropical notes on the entry, quite harmonious and focused even if it just needs a little more mineralité on the apricot-tinged finish. Fine."
