Pommard "Les Vaumuriens" Single Vineyard 2016

Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

Terroir: Lieu dit “Les Vaumuriens” is a 44 acre village level vineyard just northwest of the main village of Pommard. Domaine Faiveley controls 2.25 acres in the heart of the vineyard. Exposure is to the east/ northeast and soils are primarily clay and limestone.

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested and sorted upon arrival at the domaine. Following a 18-20 day maceration the must undergoes primary fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and wooden vats. The young wines are aged in 70% lightly toasted new oak barrels for 14 to 16 months.

Additional Information

This wine reveals an attractive deep ruby red hue. The nose exudes aromas of black fruit and spice combined with oaky notes and a touch of spice. The attack offers a powerful structure with direct tannins underpinned by delicate oaky notes. This wine’s excellent structure and aromatic persistency give it good potential for bottle age.
