Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes 2015

Domaine Faiveley

Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

Terroir: Charmes is one of the highest quality 1er Cru vineyards in all of Burgundy. The 76 acre vineyard sits on the south side of the appellation bordered by Meursault 1er Cru Perrières above and Puligny Montrachet 1er Crus Les Referts and Les Combettes to the south. This cuvee is sourced from a 1/2 acre parcel that was planted in 1977

Vinification: Grapes are harvest by hand and sorted upon arrival at the domaine. Following primary fermentation the young wine is aged for 14-16 months in a combination of 1/3 new and 2/3 used oak barrels.

This wine is tight and closed up. It does suggest plenty of fruit weight, hinting at toast and apple flavors that will come through over the next several years to give a rich wine. Drink from 2022.

Bright, pale yellow. Yellow peach, lemon oil and high-pitched floral nuances on the nose. Concentrated, even opulent, but fine-grained and light on its feet, as these higher-altitude vines are situated just below Meursault Clos des Perrires. Finishes with enticing sweetness and noteworthy lift.
