Meursault 1er Cru Blagny 2014

Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

Terroir: The hamlet of Blagny is located high on the hillside above Puligny Montrachet and Meursault and represents an entirely unique terroir. This 1er Cru vineyard is located directly adjacent to the 1er Cru “La Pièce Sous le Bois” overlooking the vineyards of Perrières and Puligny Champ Canet. Exposure is due east and soils are shallow marl and clay.

Vinification: Grapes are harvest by hand and sorted upon arrival at the domaine. Following primary fermentation the young wine is aged for 14-16 months in a combination of 1/3 new and 2/3 used oak barrels.

Additional Information

A brilliant light yellow color. The very pleasant expressive and complex nose opens up with floral and slightly woody notes. The attack is bold and frank, then this wine is full and harmonious on the palate. It has a certain vivaciousness, which gives it good length on the palate and very long-lasting aromas.

Lean and bracing, with racy acidity driving the flavors of peach, apple, lemon and spice. Long, echoing the lemon and spice notes. For fans of acidity. Best from 2019 through 2028.

"Very pure and lemony, with notes of stones and minerals, this rich-textured premier cru is from a producer with one of the largest holdings of premier and grand cru vineyards."

"(50% malo): Very complex nose combines white peach, citrus fruits, flowers and smoky minerality; smells dense! Wonderfully suave and horizontal in the mouth, with harmonious acidity and underlying minerality leavening this very ripe wine's slight sweetness (still around three grams but it's not yet finished). Really glistens on the long, suave, youthfully tight aftertaste. This will be delicious at the dinner table. Hervet describes this wine as "a cousin of 2009 in its ripeness," noting that the fruit came in at 13% potential alcohol."
