Mercurey Rouge La Framboisière (Monopole) 2019

Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

Terroir: The 27 acre vineyard La Framboisière is a monopole of Domaine Faiveley and is located in the heart of Mercurey’s 1er Crus to the northeast of the village. Vines date back as far as 1949 and are planted in soils of clay and limestone.

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested, sorted and pressed on site in Mercurey. Following vinification the young wines are brought to the domaine cellars in Nuits-St-Georges for aging. The wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel and oak for 12 to 14 months prior to release. Approximately 1/3 of the oak is first use.

Additional Information

This wine reveals a powerful, fruity nose combining rich notes of red and black fruits and a subtle hint of oak. La Framboisière offers a powerful palate dominated by crunchy red fruits. Its velvety tannins and exceptional length make it a pleasure to drink!

"The finest rendition of this cuvée that I've ever tasted, Faiveley's 2019 Mercurey La Framboisière wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet berry fruit, warm spices, rose petals and plums. Medium-bodied, fleshy and precise, with lively acids and excellent depth at the core, it's deep and unusually serious, with all the charm but less of the frivolity that this cuvée has historically displayed. It derives from an 11-hectare parcel—part of which was planted in 1990 and the rest of which is old massal selections—that was vinified with 15% whole cluster and matured in 20% new oak."
