- Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2018

Overview

Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

Terroir: 1er Cru "Les Amoureuses" is situated just below the Grand Cru Musigny and shares its northern border with 1er Cru "Les Charmes" . Domaine Faiveley's small parcel sits mid slope with an ideal south/ southeast exposure and stony, shallow limestone soils.

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested and sorted upon arrival at the domaine. Following a 18-20 day maceration the must undergoes primary fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and wooden vats. The young wines are aged in 70% lightly toasted new oak barrels for 14 to 16 months.

Additional Details edit

Seductive bouquet with aromas of red berry fruit, rose petals, and violets. On the palate the tannins are remarkably silky, with a long, very pleasant finish.

"The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses bursts form the glass with a complex bouquet of wild berries, cherries, peony, cinnamon and smoke. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and fine-boned, with powdery and refined structuring tannins, lively acids and a fragrant core of fruit. I'd rank Domaine Faively's Chambolle-Musigny premiers crus above this négociant cuvée, despite the pedigree of the site, but it is a pretty wine in the making."
