Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers 2017

Domaine Armand Rousseau

Terroir: Domaine Rousseau owns just over 2 acres of this small Premiere Cru that sits directly in front of the domaine and just outside of the walls of Clos St Jacques.

Vinification: Grapes are meticulously sorted as they arrive in the winery. Following a cool maceration lasting 5-7 days the must travels by gravity into barrel where it will stay for the entire vinification process lasting typically 18-24 months. Each Armand Rousseau wine is blended unfiltered.

Just ten cases of this wine are imported into the U.S. Please consult your local FWS rep for availability.

"The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru is a step up from the Lavaux Saint-Jacques: more intensity, more red fruit, perhaps even more panache. According to Cyrielle Rousseau this had just started to open up the week of my visit. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannin, quite plush red fruit, rounded and sensual with a very precise finish that fans out with aeration. This might be the most seductive 2017 from Rousseau this year."

"One of the highlights of this year's portfolio chez Rousseau, the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers wafts from the glass with a lovely bouquet of red cherries, berries and grilled meat that's complemented by top notes of peony, blood orange and cedary oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered with a deep core, beautifully refined tannins and a long, precise finish. Based on this barrel sample, this Cazetiers will surpass the domaine's Lavaux Saint-Jacques and several of its grands crus in depth, completeness and delineation."
