Domaine Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos du Château (Monopole) 2017
Overview
Summary: The vineyards of the Château de Gevrey-Chambertin became part of the domain in 2012. Since then, we have pulled up the vines in some places and replanted them in others to rebalance the age of the vines. We worked extensively on the soil, introducing a mechanical process for aeration and to encourage microorganisms. At the same time, we decided to try a biodynamic process. We have been developing our understanding year on year to get the best results. We have come a long way, and we are more and more satisfied with the quality of the wines, but this is just the beginning.
Additional Details
Clear ruby red in color. Expressive nose of fresh red fruits with a hint wood and forest floor. The palate is sweet and tangy with crunchy red fruits, wild strawberries, spice, nutmeg, bramble, and a hint of European oak. An extremely satisfying wine.Technical Details

"Shy in aroma, this red offers saturated flavors of cherry, currant, rose and mineral, displayed on a taut, linear frame. It's well-integrated, with a chalky line of tannins underlying it all. Shows terrific balance, and the finish just keeps giving. Best from 2024 through 2047."
