"Raised entirely in stainless steel, the 2016 Saint-Véran was showing very well, wafting from the glass with notes of lemon oil, honeysuckle and pastry cream. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and powerful, with succulent underlying acidity, concluding with a stony, saline finish. Cropped at a mere 12 hectoliters per hectare, it nevertheless remains quite classical in profile—there's simply somewhat more flesh and concentration than usual."

"(fermented and aged entirely in tank and bottled in June; production was just a fraction of normal, mostly from vines in Davayé; three types of soil were vinified separately, then blended): Pale, bright yellow. Pungent but sweet scents of lemon drop, white stone fruits and crushed rock. A touch more exotic than the J J Vincent Pouilly-Fuissé, offering an attractively fat middle for 2016. The wine's mid-palate texture comes from Le Clos, according to Antoine Vincent; its saline side comes from Les Crets in Davayé while the citrus element is from a bit of fruit from Chasselas."
