Château Fuissé - Pouilly Fuissé Tête de Cuvee 2018

Overview

Terroir: Château Fuissé's Téte de Cuvee is a blend of over 20 prime vineyard sites throughout the appellation of Pouilly-Fuissé. Plots in Pouilly, with a high limestone proportion, contribute intense perfume yet more delicacy in the mouth. Those in Fuissé, where clay is more prominent, are less aromatic but fuller, more solid and structured. Vines are an average of 30 years old. Vinification: Each vineyard site is vinified separately until the final blend is chosen following aging. 60% of the wine is aged in oak barrel (25% new) while the remaining 40% is stored in stainless steel to retain it's pure fruit.

"Delicate and charming, the 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru offers up pretty aromas of honeyed orchard fruit and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and open-knit, with succulent acids and a seamless, nicely integrated profile, it avoids some of the extremes of the domaine's grander cuvées this year."

"Very nice, lean style of Chardonnay. It has an elegant, mineral-driven palate and balanced acidity. There is a slight richness on the palate that brings depth while having no influence of oak."

"Brimming with ripe yellow plums and nectarines with candied lemon/lime citrus and honeysuckle; delightfully pure and harmonious with a warming creamy oak consistency and a lovely deft finish. Long and luxurious."
