Castello Monaci - Liante Salice Salentino DOC 2018
"Liante" is the "wind of the Levant" which gusts throughout the Adriatic region.
Terroir: Negramaro and Malvasia Nera di Lecce are sourced from estate vineyards surrounding the 16th century winery.
Vinification: Grapes are hand-harvested before dawn to avoid exposure to the hot sun. The Negroamaro ripens first; typically in early September, followed by the Malvasia up to two weeks later. The grapes are macerated and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks follow by 6 months in the cellar where 25% the wine will rest in French oak and the remainder in stainless steel. 50,000 bottles produced.

"A blend of 80% Negroamaro and 20% Malvasia Nera, this savory, fresh red starts off with aromas of red berry jam, tomato paste and olive tapenade. Flavors of tart cherry and red plum glide alongside zesty acidity on the medium-bodied palate, with a bit of grit and grip to the texture. It's a bit rustic in feel but still quite charming—perfect as a weekday red alongside pizza or pasta."
