Brandlin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Brandlin

Since its debut vintage in 2003, Steve Rogstad has guided the winemaking at Brandlin Vineyard, crafting wines that have earned renown for their vineyard-inspired depth and complexity, robust mountain structure and age-worthiness.

In the Vineyard: Brandlin is a Napa Valley estate that produces wine from a small, historic vineyard in the Mount Veeder appellation. Overlooking Napa Valley from its 1,250 foot perch, the estate is planted to 38 acres of Bordeaux varieties. These sustainably farmed, low yielding vines produce intensely concentrated grapes, resulting in wines that eloquently express this rare and rugged mountain site. These wines pay homage to the Brandlin family, which began farming wine grapes on Mount Veeder in the 1870s. In 1998 Cuvaison Estate Wines was honored by Chester Brandlin with rights to purchase Brandlin Vineyard. Today, we continue the family’s tradition of nurturing and farming the vine-yard by hand.

Additional Information

“Despite the smaller yield, 2015 produced wines of power and richness. Our Brandlin Cabernet is brimming with notes of black currants, violets, rose petals, and black cherry with a hint of camphor. A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Malbec and 4% Cabernet Franc, the wine is plush and round on the palate with fine mountain tannins and a long, satiny finish.” — Steve Rogstad, Winemaker

"The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Brandlin Estate comes from a vineyard on Mount Veeder and was aged 22 months in 50% new French oak. It has a beautiful bouquet of plums, blueberries, exotics spice and dried flowers. This gives way to a medium to full-bodied, balanced red that has the tannic grip of the appellation, yet also plenty of fruit and texture. It's a charming, well-made red to drink over the coming 10-15 years. Outstanding wine. This wine is outstanding for its type and is worth the extra effort to seeking out."
