Brandlin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Brandlin

Founded in 1969, Cuvaison is one of the pioneering wineries that helped shape the modern era of Napa Valley winemaking. As an independent, family-owned winery for nearly five decades, we are dedicated to crafting exceptional wines from our acclaimed estate in the Los Carneros region of Napa Valley. To this day, our mission remains true to our roots, and so do our wines.

Terroir: Brandlin is a Napa Valley estate that produces wine from a small, historic vineyard in the Mount Veeder appellation. Overlooking Napa Valley from its 1,200 foot perch, the estate is planted to 38 acres of Bordeaux varieties. These wines pay homage to the Brandlin family, which began farming wine grapes on Mount Veeder in the 1870s and established the Brandlin Vineyard in 1926. In 1998 Cuvaison Estate Wines was honored by Chester Brandlin with rights to purchase Brandlin Vineyard. Today, we continue the family’s tradition of nurturing and farming the vineyard by hand.

Additional Information

“A gorgeous bouquet of violets, rose petals and fresh currant on the nose. The wine is quite lush and round on the attack, featuring lovely blackberry and boysenberry jam, with hints of mocha, toffee and Saigon cinnamon. Our 2014 is 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and rounded out with 10% Cabernet Franc, 7 % Malbec and 6% Petit Verdot all from our rugged, picturesque Brandlin Estate Vineyard on Mount Veeder.” – Steve Rogstad, Winemaker

"Lively, green notes on the nose, complemented by a welcome rigidity and lack of flab on the palate. It is robust with firm tannins coated in a core of ripe fruit. Subtle for a mountain wine, with some elegance and persistence."

"...Deep, powerful and seductive. This is an especially dark, dense, fruit forward style... Dark red and black stone fruit, spice, leather, smoke and licorice give the 2014 much of its distinctive, brooding personality. At the same time, polished tannins give the wine plenty of near and medium-term appeal."
