Some
of the Frequently Asked Questions of Frederick Wildman
and Sons
Who
is Frederick Wildman?
Frederick Wildman was the founder of Frederick Wildman and Sons.
A brief biography can be found here.
Can
I buy your wines through the website?
No. Frederick Wildman and Sons, Ltd., is a wine importer. By US
law, we can only sell wine to licensed wine distributors.
So
how do I find your wines?
You may email
us, and we will find retailers in your area who carry the wine(s)
you are looking for.
I
have a bottle of wine from many years ago, with the Wildman oval.
How can I get more information about it?
Because
Wildman has evolved quite a bit since 1934 (read about it here),
there are many wineries that we no longer do business with (if they
still exist!). Therefore, we probably can't provide any info for
you---not because we don't want to, but because the information
is completely gone from our records.
I
have an old bottle of wine. What's it worth and where can I sell
it?
As
with any old collectible, it's worth whatever someone is willing
to pay for it. Selling old and rare wines is a completely separate
business from what we do. We suggest you contact an auction house,
or a company that deals exclusively in rare wines.
I
bought a bottle of wine, and it's bad. How do I get my money back?
First,
re-cork the bottle and bring the bottle (with the remaining wine)
back to the store you bought it from. A good wine shop will replace
your bottle on the spot---provided that the wine is not excessively
old, there is still a substantial amount of wine in the bottle,
and you don't return wines on a daily basis.
I'm
looking for information on a wine that I know you carry in New York,
but it's not listed on the website. What gives?
We
have a secondary business that distributes wine to NY-licensed retailers
and distributors. Many of these wines (listed
here) are not distributed by us nationally, so they're not
included on our website.
What
is your phone number and fax, and why isn't it on your home page?
Our phone number is 212.355.0700, fax is 212.355.4719 and are used
only for placing orders. All other questions and requests are ignored,
so your best bet is to email.
